Shawmut Showcases OUTLAST® Cooling Seat Technology
West Bridgewater, Mass.,
November 12, 2003 -- At this year’s 2003 IFAI Show,
Shawmut showcased the latest OUTLAST® cooling seat technology.
Developed in partnership with Outlast Technologies, Inc., Shawmut
Corporation developed the coating application for the Outlast
technology for automotive seating and has exclusive rights for
automotive applications.
Available in fiber, fabric and foam, OUTLAST Smart
Fabric Technology™ creates seating that buffers against
overheating, while mitigating chill. OUTLAST Thermocules®
work with the body or surrounding environment to control temperature
and humidity better than conventional fabrics or insulation alone.
Traditional transportation seating traps heat from
your body, the surrounding environment and from sunlight. In the
case of leather interior, this heat build up can cause burning
to exposed skin. In other cases, this heat build up causes overheating
which naturally triggers sweating. The resulting moisture reduces
the ability to stay dry and comfortable. OUTLAST Smart Fabric
Technology products absorb excess heat and release it when the
body needs it most. By moderating temperatures next to the skin,
this unique microclimate seating helps reduce overheating, to
sweat less and avoid chill.
